BITX20 - 15. Building the external vfo

I ordered my bitx20 including the LCD frequency counter option.
At that point Sunil included a pcb for a vfo that works together with the frequency counter.

So i started to build this. As no components were included, you have to gather all parts yourself.
My component stock is no where near big , but with the basic stock i have, it almost filled the complete PCB

The components that i am missing are not uncommon ..... i think....
Just som capacitors, 1 coil, variable capacitors, diodes, etc....
So whe i am going to a small hamfair upcomming saturday, i hope to get al parts i need.
If not i still have some ham friends, or online suppliers that can supply me with the parts needed.

  1. Hi Alex,

Do you have a list of the components for the VFO? There was no list in my kit.
    Thanks

    1. Alex,

Great. I bought the BitX20 version 3 kit half completed off of eBay, but there was no info on the VFO. Took me awhile just to figure out what the PCB was.

  4. Alex,

Unfortunatly, that is not the VFO that is in the picture about. The link is to a FLL VFO which is a PIC based VFO not the Hartley osc, which is the pcb in the picture.

    1. Hi Dave,

The link is to the manual of the counter you see in my picture, the external vfo is in front of it.
And on the last 2 pages of the manual, you will find the vfo part.
whith the schematic and parts list of the small print.

Sua ships the counter pre-build and the pcb for the vfo without parts.

      Hope this explains some.

      73's,
      Alex
